Tides Inn Chesapeake Bay Marina - Irvington, VA

The Tides Inn is a charming resort with quite a history and a reputation for taking care of their guests. The marina is relatively small with floating dock accommodations for about 24 boats, but the excellent staff are prepared to help you have a first class experience. The size and secluded location off of the Rappahannock River makes for an enjoyable and relaxing stay.

There is plenty to keep you busy on the resort grounds. Marina guests are able to take advantage of the many amenities provided by the Inn. The grounds are beautiful and well groomed. Guest enjoy a very nice pool with poolside bar service as well as waterfront activities. The resort caters to guests of all types, but there is much to do for families.

Coming from the Bay, you travel up the Rappahannock River, under the Norris Bridge, which has plenty of clearance, and turn to starboard at R2 to head up Carter Creek. The marina is straight ahead. As you approach the T-head dock, be sure to follow your chart plotter to avoid the shallow areas on the starboard side.

Our first trip to the Tides had us approaching from the north and crossing the area of the Bay where the Potomac River enters. Be advised that it can get rather choppy here depending on weather and current conditions. We generally try to time our passage around slack tide if we can to minimize the chance of rough conditions.
