Safe Harbor South Harbor Village, Southport, NC
Last visited: April 2024 We stayed here for two nights to escape heavy rain and wind. There is a long transient dock that also includes fueling stations and it is located immediately adjacent to the ICW. We were assigned the inside of the long dock which is accessed through a narrow entrance on the north side of the marina. The dockhands did a great job helping us in during very windy conditions. |
The floating docks are in great condition and include convenient connections to the pump out system. There are regular slips inside the long transient dock and appeared to be mostly occupied. We were not able to review the restroom facilities during this trip as they were undergoing major renovation.
There are two very convenient restaurants adjacent to the marina. Both get pretty good reviews. We tried Rusty Hooks and enjoyed our meal. We heard from other boaters that Joseph's Italian Bistro was also very good. There is a park just beyond the marina entrance, convenient if you have a dog that needs walking.
The marina was secured with fob-accessed gates and was very quiet at night. There was no television reception in this location, however we were able to use the marina Wifi, even at one of the most remote dock spaces. It worked ok for streaming, however the speed is a little slow and typical of most marina Wifi.
The competent staff and convenient location make this is good stop on the ICW. Safe Harbor members benefit from reduced fuel prices and free slips when they are available.
