This is a fantastic anchorage for water activities or nights on the hook. You enter by going around the Swan Creek bar if you are coming from the North, or passing Rock Hall Harbor if coming from the South. Gratitude Marina is on your starboard as you enter the creek, a good spot if you need to refuel. After going around the two red buoys, go all the way to third green and turn to port. It is not uncommon to find a line of crab pots as you come into the creek. You will need to watch your depth, especially if you are a large draft boat. You can usually find plenty of places to anchor in 6 to 8 feet of water. If you get there early, be advised that the crabbers are out in the morning and you will need to make sure not to anchor on top of their lines.
This is a great place for kayaking, swimming off the boat, paddle boarding or just sitting on your float. In the cooler weather it is perfect for sitting out on deck and finishing up that good book. Most everyone observes the 6 knot limit, so you don't have a lot of tubers or skiers creating uncomfortable wakes. My anchor has always held well here, but it does come up muddy. |
