Safe Harbor Oxford - Oxford, MD

We had heard that this marina had gone through a number of recent improvements and decided to give it a try. We enjoy the town of Oxford and the Safe Harbor Marina is in an excellent location to explore to area.

It is conveniently located off the Tred Avon River  immediately on your starboard side as you enter Town Creek. The dockhands responded to the hail quickly and gave us good directions for docking. They assigned us a T-head at the end of one of their beautiful new floating docks. It felt so good to tie up to brand new docks with new water and power pedestals. The only thing that would make them better would be connections for in-slip pompous. The marina has a large pool near the marina office with showers and heads. The seating around the pool is limited and I imagine can get crowded on busy weekends. The marina office also has a small ships store and sits on the fuel and pumpout dock. Fuel seemed to be a bit on the expensive side.

There is a separate building with a boaters lounge, laundry and three private bathrooms with showers. These may be the largest individual bathrooms I have ever seen at a marina. They were very clean and well-maintained. The boaters lounge had coffee in the morning, TV and a large selection of books to borrow. Gas grills and picnic tables were adjacent to the building. Bicycles are available for rent, but most of the restaurants and shops are within walking distance.

The historic Robert Morris Inn is just a couple of blocks away and the dinner there was excellent. It is the oldest full service Inn in America, originally opening in 1710. Dessert at the the Scottish Highland Creamery is almost a requirement while in Oxford. It is located across the boatyard next to the marina and where many of the local watermen dock their workboats.

The Treasure Chest is one of our favorite gift shops. We always find something of interest there. Across the street is the town park with a beautiful of the entry to the Tred Avon River from the Choptank.

The marina Wifi worked well during our visit and TV reception was excellent. ATT service was pretty good with 3 bars. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this Safe Harbor Marina and will plan to return in the near future.
