St. Johns Yacht Harbor, Charleston, SC
Our stay at St. Johns was just a short overnight, but we were able to tell that this is a nice marina with perhaps the best bathroom and shower facilities that we have seen. It is situated a short way to the east on the Stono River on southern end of Elliot Cut. Be advised that the current can be treacherous and the tide runs about 7 feet. The staff are very helpful and experienced with the current issues. We were tied up at the fuel dock and had to crab our way down the fairway to fight the current. The marina is very isolated, with no restaurants or provisioning opportunities nearby. We did not use the laundry facilities, but we understand they are very nice. The pool was very nice as were the gas grill and picnic areas. I had a sleepless night worrying about departing with a swift current the next morning, but there was little wind and it turned out to be a non-event. |
