It's only fitting that first on our list is our home marina in Rock Hall, Maryland. Osprey Point is a quiet marina nestled around the bend in Swan Creek. On the maps you may see the area identified as "The Haven." It is a well-protected area and apparently has a good record for riding out storms. We have been in the marina for a number of large storms and have always felt secure.

St. Michaels is a favorite destination for Chesapeake Bay cruisers and the St. Michaels Marina is a popular place to dock. Easy access to town, shopping and restaurants make this one of the most popular places on the Bay.
|
If you want a change of pace while visiting St. Michaels, you may wish to dock at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum. A museum membership is required, but it affords you the opportunity to dock at a reduced price compared to the other marinas in St. Michaels. You can also tie up for free for a couple of hours if you just want to do a short trip.

If you are looking to stay in downtown Baltimore, the Harbor East Marina is an excellent facility and close to all of the Baltimore attractions and hot spots. Access is easy and the marina staff provide excellent service.

The Hyatt Regency resort is a well-known location on the Eastern Shore and provides a lot for guests. The marina provides the opportunity for boaters to boat in and book rooms in the resort, or stay on their boat and take advantage of all the amenities that the resort has to offer.

Yorktown is one of our favorite places that we have visited so far. The docks were great, the town was convenient and there were a variety of activities to keep us busy. We are looking forward to a return trip in the near future.

This was one of our first marina visits during our initial boating season. I think we became a bit spoiled after this experience thinking that all marinas were like the Tides Inn. If you are looking for a first-class resort marina stay, the Tides Inn Chesapeake Bay Marina should be on your list. It is hard to beat the atmosphere and amenities.

We combined our overnight stay in Onancock with a short visit to Tangier Island. The town-owned and operated marina is relatively new with floating docks and easy access to town. We enjoyed a quiet evening after a pleasant walk through town and dinner in one of the convenient restaurants.

Deltaville is a popular boating center with many marinas and boatyards, sitting on the southern shore of the Rappahhanock River. Our mid-week visit resulted in an enjoyable and relaxing experience. The marina boasts very nice facilities in a secluded setting. It is easily accessible to the Chesapeake Bay no matter which direction you are traveling.

A trip to Portsmouth will put most boaters into sensory overload. Few places have so many interesting things taking place on the water. The town is very historic and conveniently located right across the river from downtown Norfolk and the world's largest naval base. The Tidewater Yacht Marina is a good choice as your center of operations while you enjoy the area.
