River Dunes Marina, which is part of a larger community has a charming vibe and is well protected. Reservations were made through Dockwa and the response confirmation was very quick. The marina is right off the Neuse River and convenient to the ICW (MM 171.5). The entrance may look intimidating, but just stay in the channel and follow the markers when entering the marina.

The dockhands met us at the convenient fuel dock that is at the end of a rather long entry fairway into the marina. After fueling, they directed us to our slip and assisted with tying up. The floating docks are in good shape and our slip was convenient to the marina office, the boaters' lounge and bathrooms. The bathrooms are on the small side for a large marina, but it was pretty quiet during our one night stay.

There is a restaurant on the premises, but we did not take advantage of it. There is also a small cafe for coffee, sandwiches, etc. They have a small store if you need groceries and other provisions. There is a pool, hot tub and fitness center with about 20 different machines. The marina office was decorated for Christmas and had a fire going in the fireplace. There was also a billiards table and nice lounge with plush sofas and chairs. At night, the surrounding buildings are lit nicely and give a vary upscale feel to the marina.

Our ATT signal was not strong, but the Onspot Wifi worked great. There is no over the air television, so streaming is your only choice.

There are very nice homes surrounding the marina property making for some nice walks. The marina is in a fairly remote area with no town nearby, but I'm sure the marina staff would be willing to assist with any needs.
