Eau Gallie Yacht Basin - Melbourne, FL
Last visit: March 3 -6, 2026 Eau Gallie Yacht Basin is a small marina on the western shore of the Indian River in Melbourne near the mouth of the Eau Gallie River. We have passed by many times on our trips up and down the Indian River, and finally decided to stop based on a recommendation from friends. The approach is narrow and winds a bit, but your reward is a quiet and protected lagoon that hosts another marina as well as anchored boats. The lagoon is surrounded by homes and a park with a boat ramp that I am sure is busy on the weekends. The marina has fixed docks, but it doesn't have any tide changes to contend with. Reservations were made using Dockwa and the marina was quick to respond to the reservation request. Marina staff is limited, but it seems as though someone was always there to help boaters with their lines. There are only a few slips for transients and most were assigned to the long face dock. We had the end spot that gave us a wonderful view of the lagoon where we could watch numerous dolphin play, manatees swim by and pelicans dive for fish. In addition, the local high school crew team was out practicing one afternoon. Amenities include free use of the washer and dryer and free in-slip pump out. There is no fuel on site. There are two private bathrooms with shower. The slipholders have a pot luck dinner on Wednesday nights. We enjoyed getting to know some of the locals as well as other transients over dinner and then around the bonfire after sunset. The WiFi signal was weak in our slip and there was no over-the-air television available. We did have good ATT cell service. |
This area is still considered part of the space coast and close enough for me to view the latter stage of an early morning launch from Cape Canaveral.
There are a few restaurants and shops within walking distance of the marina. Grocery provisioning is on the other side of the bridge that goes over the Indian River. It is a good distance away, but our slip neighbors walked there and back without a problem. I'm sure bicycles would make the trip much easier.
Eau Gallie Yacht Basin turned out to be a very nice stop for us. We are glad we finally did it.
