Delaware City Marina is conveniently situated on the Delaware River just north of the entrance to the C & D Canal. The long floating docks are situated in a narrow canal that runs along the city waterfront. They have a convenient fuel dock and pumpout in front of the marina office and well-stocked ships store. Transient boats are docked beyond the fuel dock |
Private bathrooms with showers are located at the rear of the marina store and accessed by way of a nicely decorated walkway. A security code was required for entry and the were well-maintained. There were also coin-operated washers and dryers available that we did not use.
We were given the connection info for the complimentary Wifi, however we were not able to get it to work during our stay. There was not TV reception as Delaware City is quite a distance from Philadelphia and Baltimore. |
The town and dock areas were very quiet during our stay, however a security code was required for after hours access to the docks.
Due to a low bridge, all boats must turn around in the narrow canal to leave the marina through the same entrance they arrived. The canal also has a fairly swift current, so you will want to plan your departure appropriately. The marina staff can provide assistance if needed. We have heard that the marina staff provides a briefing about transiting the Delaware Bay to Cape May everyday at 4:00pm. There was no briefing during our stay, however the weather conditions were perfect and no special instructions were required. For those that wish to take an extended walk or bicycle ride, there is a paved trail that starts just south of the marina and extends to the C & D Canal. It is very well-maintained and seems to be popular with the locals. We did not walk all the way to the Canal, but stopped at an historic site. |
