Dataw Island Marina - Beaufort, SC
Last visit: March 29, 2026 Dataw Island Marina is about 4 miles off the ICW and not far from Beaufort as the crow flies, but about 17 nautical miles of cruising. Reservations were made using Dockwa and the marina was quick to respond to the reservation request. The secluded marina includes a boatyard as well as land storage for boats of various sizes. It is part of a quiet gated golf course community with very nice homes. There is a restaurant on site, however it is closed on Sundays, and that is the day we were there. Since most of the boats in the marina belong to locals and they have very few transients, we were the only ones staying on our boat the night we were there. It was very quiet and peaceful, and the gorgeous sunset glistening off the water was an added bonus. There is fuel and pump out on site. The staff were very helpful in windy conditions to get us on and off the fuel dock and then tied up at our slip. They had us located at the end and on the outside of a long dock. It made our departure very easy the next morning. The marina has free laundry for boaters and nice bathrooms. Television reception was minimal and there was no WiFi. We had one bar of ATT service. The grounds were beautiful with big Live Oak trees and Spanish moss. They were spectacular at night when lit up. There was no town nearby for supplies or provisioning. This marina worked well for a quick and relatively inexpensive overnight stop on our way north as we were looking to get beyond Charleston the next day. If you don't need to stop in Beaufort and you don't need provisions, this could a good alternative for you. |
